75TH ANNIVERSARY OF CONSTITUTION

Image
Constitution Day, celebrated every year on November 26, marks the adoption of the Constitution of India in 1949. As we approach its 75th anniversary, this day not only commemorates the foundational legal framework of the country but also serves as a moment for reflection on the core principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity that it embodies. The journey towards a constitutional framework began long before India’s independence. The need for such a framework emerged from the socio-political challenges posed by British colonial rule. Various reforms, including the Government of India Act of 1935, set the stage for self governance and democratic ideals. Following independence in 1947, the Constituent Assembly, which included prominent leaders such as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, worked tirelessly to draft a Constitution reflective of India’s diverse aspirations. The draft was officially adopted on November 26, 1949, establishing In...

mirabai the symbol of tru love

Meera Bai, born in 1498, Kudaki, India, was a hindu mystic and poet whose lyrical songs of devotion to the god Krishna are popular in northern India. Meera Bai was a Rajput princess, the only child of Ratan Singh, younger brother of the ruler of Merta. Her royal education included music and religion as well as instruction in politics and government. An image of Krishna given to her during childhood by a holy man began a lifetime of devotion to Krishna, whom she worshipped as her Divine Lover. Meera Bai was married in 1516 to Bhoj Raj, crown prince of Mewar. Her husband died in 1521, probably of battle wounds, and thereafter she was the victim of much persecution and intrigue at the hands of her brother-in-law when he ascended the throne, and by his successor, Vikram Singh. Meera Bai was something of a rebel, and her religious pursuits did not fit the established pattern for a Rajput princess and widow. She spent most of her days in her private temple dedicated to Krishna, receiving sad...

100 Years of Hindustan Times The Hindustan Times

Image
100 Years of Hindustan Times The Hindustan Times has been a significant force in Indian journalism and public life for 100 years, evolving from its origins in the freedom struggle to become a leading voice in contemporary media. Launched on September 15, 1924, the newspaper’s inception was closely tied to India’s anti-colonial and social reform movements. Amidst the political turbulence of early 20th-century India, the Gurudwara Reform Movement aimed to remove corrupt priests loyal to the British, leading to peaceful protests by the Akalis which were violently suppressed. In response, a group of Akalis including Sunder Singh Lyallpuri, Tej Singh Samundri and Sardar Mangal Singh saw the need for a newspaper to amplify their message. Mahatma Gandhi inaugurated The Hindustan Times and selected K.M. Panikkar as its editor. Gandhi’s advice to Panikkar emphasized the importance of honesty and transparency, a principle that remains a cornerstone of the newspaper’s ethos. The early year...

It entails augmentation of capacity of air carriers, additional units for accommodation, availability of improved means of surface transport, etc. The Central Government has also announced a package of incentives and concessions to motivate more private sector investments in tourism related activities and 17 States and Union Territories have declared tourism as an industry. The Department of Tourism has launched a scheme to provide assistance for development of international tourism. Under this scheme, the industry is given part of their expenditure on promotional aspects. In other Central Government Departments and agencies, there is now better appreciation of the importance of touris...
